Josh & Amber Clark
Lead pastors of Generation Church since August 2012, with one conviction: nobody is too far gone.
We’re so glad you’re here. We began pastoring Generation Church in 2012 with one conviction: nobody is too far gone. Wherever you’re coming from and whatever you’re carrying, there’s a seat for you and a church family ready to love you well. Come as you are. We’d love to meet you.

A heart for every culture
A North Carolina native and a third-generation pastor, Josh gave his life to Jesus at 8 years old during a children’s church service and was baptized in the Holy Spirit a few years later. That is a big reason he believes so strongly in ministry to kids and students.
As a teenager, he helped his father smuggle Bibles and medicine into Communist Cuba. That experience gave him a lifelong love for the persecuted church and for people of every culture. During his undergraduate years he led worship at both UNC-Chapel Hill and North Carolina Central University, and he speaks Spanish fluently.
In 2015, while ministering in a church service, Pastor Josh suffered a ruptured brain aneurysm and a hemorrhagic stroke, the deadliest kind. By a miracle of God he made a full recovery, and two years later he ran the New York City Marathon. He stands on the promise of Exodus 15:26: “I am the Lord your healer.”
Under Josh and Amber’s leadership, Sunday attendance has grown from the 60s to over 200, but they don’t take the credit: “Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain” (Psalm 127:1). Josh also writes Bible-centered books and devotionals for students and young adults and hosts the UnLost podcast.
Meet Pastor AmberHeart for kids and families
Before she and Pastor Josh began pastoring, Amber spent several years as a licensed behavioral therapist for children. Under her creative leadership, GC Kids has grown from a small group of 8 to an average of over 60 kids on a Sunday. She holds a B.A. in Psychology from East Carolina University and a master’s degree in Biblical Counseling.
The Clark familyJosh and Amber have been married since 2004. Their son, Hudson, was born in 2014, and in 2024 they opened their home to a very special foster daughter. At church and at home, they celebrate that “children are a blessing from the Lord” (Psalm 127:3).

Nobody is too far gone
UnLost is Pastor Josh’s weekly podcast of true stories about people who were about as far gone as a person can get, until grace found them. Slave traders, skeptics, prodigals and rebels, told honestly, with the gospel at the end of every story.
New episodes post every week on YouTube, with short stories on TikTok, Instagram and YouTube Shorts. Every episode works as a conversation starter for a small group, too.
